Numismatics (from dictonary.com) - is the study or collection of coins, medals, paper money, etc.
Numismatist (from dictonary.com) - is a specialist in numismatic.
A Certified Numismatist is, in other words, a certified coin grader. This helps them understand the authenticity and value of the items. Coin, currency, and bullion values continue to become more valuable, and too often the party that is attempting to sell the items are unaware of what they may have. If your items are not considered to be collectable / valuable, then the value of the coins are its worth in weight per the metal it is made of.
